Being a politician can be tough.

But it’s worth it.

And with the right tools, you’ll not just survive, but thrive.

Join Nominee and the Canadian Mental Health Association for a 90-minute workshop designed to empower politicians, candidates and political staff to prioritize their mental health and perform at their best.

The relentless demands of public office—constant scrutiny, high-pressure decision-making and long working hours—can lead to burnout, stress, and impaired judgment if not managed properly. This live, interactive program addresses the unique challenges experienced by politicians and equips leaders with practical tools to manage stress, build resilience, and maintain clarity under pressure.

Who Should Attend

  • Elected officials currently serving in public office, at any level of government.

  • Current or potential candidates preparing to run in an upcoming election.

  • Staff who provide support to elected officials in legislatures, constituency offices, municipal offices, etc.

  • Students, campaign volunteers and anyone interested in pursuing a career in politics.

What to Expect

  • A welcoming, inclusive and confidential environment of peers where participants are encouraged to share and reflect on their experiences.

  • A live and interactive session with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and engage with fellow participants.

  • Expert insights and resources from the field, offering best practices and practical advice, as well as takeaway materials for your own use after the session.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Recognize the difference between mental health and mental illness, and identify key signs of stress and burnout in political environments.

  • Analyze the unique stressors of political roles, including lack of control, public scrutiny, harassment, work schedule, and social media toxicity.

  • Learn and practice three actionable stress-management techniques to address overwhelm and regain a sense of control.

  • Reflect on your “why” and gain clarity on your personal purpose and values to sustain motivation and resilience.
